Djinn is a prospective project for a space heater.

It is a cost-effective and energy-efficient solution to heat specific areas of a home. Inspired by miner’s carbide lamps from the early twentieth century, djinn uses the reaction between calcium carbide and water to produce heat.

As a smart connected object, it can be programmed to turn on or off when the indoor environment reaches a certain temperature. Its accompanying app also allows the user to follow their consumption and alerts them when djinn is running low on fuel.

The typical space heater today is quite clunky and usually not very appealing. As we designed djinn, we wanted it to resemble more of a decorative object, which would blend in harmoniously inside a home.
