Ruby is Technicolor’s OTT box and smart device hub. Through a collaboration with their internal design team, the next generation of the Ruby device came to life.

Equipped with a speaker and two microphones, this new generation gives users the possibility to interact through voice and speech commands. This feature highlights the insight that consumers are increasingly performing voice-activated searches and actions. To address the topic of privacy in a visual manner, a physical button allows users to deactivate the microphone.

Ruby’s design is meant to feel friendly and approachable, especially since users will now be interacting with it more directly. Its round shape is also a nod to the previous generation.

This device was showcased at the IBC trade show in 2018.
